【摘要】:Volatilematter,whendeterminedashereindescribed,maybeusedasarelativemeasureoftheextentofcarbonizationinanactivatedcarbonandtheextentofloadingofvolatilematerialonanactivatedcarbonthathasbeenusedinanadsorptionapplication.Combinedwithotherinformation,thevolatilematterofanactivatedcarbonmaybeusefulinevaluatingitsperformanceinanadsorptionapplication.Otherautomatedmethodsforthedeterminationofthevolatilecontentofsolids,suchasusingathermogravimetricanalyzer(TGA),canbeusedinplaceofthistestmethodwithequallyreliableresults.1.1Thistestmethodcoversthedeterminationofthepercentageofgaseousproducts,exclusiveofmoisturevapor,presentinvirginandusedactivatedcarbonswhicharereleasedunderspecificconditionsofthetest.1.2Thisstandarddoesnotpurporttoaddressallofthesafetyconcerns,ifany,associatedwithitsuse.Itistheresponsibilityoftheuserofthisstandardtoestablishappropriatesafetyandhealthpracticesanddeterminetheapplicabilityofregulatorylimitationspriortouse.
